The high school exchange student program is a US Department of State program to enhance cultural understanding across the globe by bringing carefully selected teens from around the world into the USA to experience our culture as part of an American family. All teens speak English well and attend your local high school. The program is administered through a State Department designated sponsor organization, STS Foundation, that provides local support to the students and host families during the program.
Becoming a Host Family is opening up a world of unlimited adventures. The addition of a new family member brings the opportunity to make each day a new adventure. Things we take for granted and seem ordinary, come alive when experienced through the eyes of an exchange student. Everything is new and exciting.
There is great reward in the shared memories and knowing that the life of your family and student is forever enriched. Our families become a member of a team surrounding every student to build an opportunity for amazing memories. The support of an entire network stands behind every placement. It is the goal of this program to celebrate every experience and provide the tools to each host family for a successful school year with their student.
